All i ever hear is china this and china that. The fact that they have the largest population in the world and a bit of cash doesn't mean their heading anywhere fast.
China is still a communist and many of the citizens are living in poverty so in my view, china is a third world country just doing better than most.
China isn't as wealthy or technologically advanced as the USA, Japan, Britain or Germany? so who cares whether their economy is booming? It's not as if it affects the world in any way? do people get what i'm saying?

Disclaimer - I'm no fan of China. I would enjoy seeing huge trade tarriffs...

"All i ever hear is china this and china that."

They have definitely become more popular lately.

"The fact that they have the largest population in the world and a bit of cash doesn't mean their heading anywhere fast."

It does, though. The more companies funnel money into China for cheap goods, the more money enters their economy. As their economy grows, they start expanding into more upper end businesses and industries.

"China is still a communist and many of the citizens are living in poverty so in my view, china is a third world country just doing better than most. "

China is a land of extreme contrast. Most people are incredibly poor and dying of starvation. However, those in the large cities and those employed in certain government sectors are living much better than most Americans.

"China isn't as wealthy or technologically advanced as the USA, Japan, Britain or Germany?"

Nuclear missiles, aerospace and astronaut program, huge industry, future factories for the #1 semi-conductor company in the world (Intel)...ya, I would say they're on a glide path to being a technological super power. At least from business. The people are still too poor to afford anything more than a hundred dollar computer...if that.

"so who cares whether their economy is booming? It's not as if it affects the world in any way? do people get what i'm saying?"

Ah, but it does. Remember...the larger the US trade gap, the more money is leaving the US and going to China. Every dollar that goes to China that does not return to the US is bad for the US and great for China.

Note that I've left out many other important issues, such as wide-rampant piracy and the total lack of morality in Chinese culture. China is a world-wide issue.

China has a lot of potential, and that's what people are talking about. Recently, though still being communist the contry has turned to a more capitalist economy, allowing for more economic growth. And, the growth of the economy in China has been crazy lately. What this could potentially mean is that China will soon be in use of more of the worlds resources than any other country. This is going to cost a rise in prices for everything, especially fuels (which we'll see even more use of when the contry increases its use of electricity).

You'll only be able to ignor China for a little while. Before long, the country will develop, and will have quite an economic impact.

China is an emerging third world country. Yes it has many people living in poverty: but then again so does the US. I live in China and to walk around you would not know that it is a communist country. There is no overt oppression and people go about their business the same as the do in other countries. Have a look at Australia's welfare system (Support until you get a job however long it takes!) and Free to all health care system, then tell me you are better off in George Bush's America. The US economy is going nowhere fast and in 10 years you will be looking to China for a loan to pay your foreign debt: or invading some other poor country and stealing their resources in the name of democracy! Iraq ring any bells??

One of the fastest growing economies, the largest population in the world (and consequently the largest army), a hugh manufacturing base, nuclear weapons and space technology etc. Plus the fact that most of the world is in their dept. Take a look at most of the items in your home and you will probably see a made in China label.

To make an prolonged tale short. With each and every of the human rights violations happening in the U. Ummm... they affect the world in lots of ways. For starters, they are a huge player in regional politics, and their huge economy is going to be providing money to whichever power learns to exploit it most effectively...

How on Earth can you think that China doesn't affect the world in any way?

What do you mean "it's not as if it affects the world in any way"? How could you possibly ignore China.

If you're asking, shouldn't you be looking for an answer, instead of giving one to yourself?

My answer would be that there are two huge aspect of why China is a threat to world economy and peace, and the reasons why you hear so much about them.

THE FIRST POINT.
China cheats economically. When two nations trade goods, it is best to keep a balance of imports and exports. You buy from me, I'll buy from you. This way the value of our money does not get hurt from the trade. The easiest way to understand this is think of it in products.

Let's assume that China says I'll give you 100 T-Shirts for 10 US Movies. If one movie is worth 10 TShirts then it's a fair trade. But in reality, China is selling to us 100 T -Shirts for 1 movie, and we're loaning them paper value for the rest. Loans which are also called US Dollars. The value they hold is only as good as the world market is willing to give. So China is not buying our products, it is collecting our Cash.

At first it seems like a deal, but remember if they don't buy our movies then the value of these movies goes down and we're left with too much stuff, too many movies in the cabinet and no money. Also the value of the money we have left is dependent of how much China is holding in its banks. If they choose to trade it for Diamonds, Gold, Euros, Land, or some other value the outflow of Dollars in the world market would devalue it to the point that even the Canadian Dollars will be stronger in value. The price of anything imported would be increased tremendously thus really hurting our economy. We would be bankrupt as a nation.

THE SECOND POINT.
China is a Communist country and it is an enemy of Democracy. They believe in Censorship and complete government control. Therefore, if they could, they would impose their way of life over other nations, even forcefully (ie. Taiwan)

Remember the US Dollars China has in the bank? They are trading them lots of oil and a strong military arsenal that will make them a world superpower (Have you noticed gas prices lately?). Thus, they are strategically positioning themselves for a one-two punch to the US. First weaken our Dollar and damage our economy (and consequentially the military) then attack with their arsenal.

CONCLUSION.
If you understand the explanation above, then you would also be concerned. Don't be blind to the fact that no one has ever attacked the US motherland. The world history is full of wars and rising nations, and China is definitely playing that game!

(By the way, they make illegal copies of our other movies, so they don't have to buy them.)
