and i'm not talking about the ones released every couple of years on some greatest hits album. If you do list one of these songs you better have a damn good reason for it.

Well I imagine "Wild Horses" ends up on a bunch of greatest hits albums but it really is my favorite ... the melody and the imagery just kill me, it's one of those songs that's a bit long but not a wasted word in the bunch.
For a more obscure one, "Out Of Time" just f'n rocks. You wouldn't think throwing in the strings on such a nasty upbeat song would do the trick, but damn if it don't ... the whole songs like a big musical middle finger to some girl that did you wrong. "You're obsolete my baby/My poor old fashioned baby ..."

Sympathy for the Devil. Even though it's one of their more popular ones. Sorry about that..
It's my favorite because my mother was a huge Rolling Stones fan and I can remember one time when I was really little, she had to take me to see a hematologist in a neighboring town. It was about a 3 hour car ride, and we were listening to an oldies station and she started singing that song along with the radio because she knew I was nervous because I was going to have a lot of blood drawn that day and I hated needles. It's just a good memory of Mom.

Brown Sugar- when I was 18 (many years ago) this song came on the radio and I started tuning every one to the station, instead of yelling at me my dad ran around the house helping me and then we danced! One of my best memories with him ;-)
