The wheel hubs aren't locked in.

When your 4wd is disengaged, your transfer case rotates freely. You don't have to lock in a set of hubs like on older cars, the engagement is handled by the transfer case itself. With 4wd disengaged, the truck is essentially a 2 wheel drive, which allows the front wheels to turn freely as they are technically not tied with any other rotating powered assemblies. It's perfectly normal.

As long as the 4WD is disengaged you should have free spin on your front driveshaft in that it will rock the truck back and forth but will not turn the engine, uinless you have manually locking front hubs, in which case the driveshaft will spinn freely with no movement until the 4WD is engaged.

No, you probable have a foul CV joint in case you have vibration (which demands changing the full driveshaft - that are technically reported as a million/2 shafts on a front wheel force motor vehicle)

If both front wheels are on the ground, you shouldn't be able to turn the driveshaft with or without the vehicle being in park. If it turns, you could have a broken axle.

It depends on who makes the vehicle and how 4X4 is engaged. If you have locking hubs that are unlocked, yes the shaft can turn free when disengaged
