While I don't think overweight people should be discriminated against, I also don't feel it should fall into the same category as race, sex, gender, etc... Weight is a malleable characteristic, not one set at birth. I don't know anybody who thinks being overweight is desirable. Sure, there are plenty of people who think being overweight is acceptable, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't rather be in shape.
Anyway, while I'm not suggesting overweight people should be discriminated against, I'm also against lumping them in with factors which are beyond control.

It is wrong.
No one should be discriminated against. Not everyone is over weight because they choose to be. ( Yes there are some who choose to be that way, they have bene on talk shows thought i'm sure i shouldn't believe that. )
Anyhow i'm over weight. But i have a syndrom called PCOS. There are other syndromes, ie, Thyroid problems, SyndromeX a medibolic order, others are born with issues such as Diabetes which can cause issues. Even type 2 Diabetics, have a horrible time trying to lose weight.
Bottom line it's wrong.

It's wrong to discriminate against people because of their physical make up. Too often we think that fat people just ate their way to being overweight. Science is now proving that there are many and complicated reasons for this. Would you criticise someone for having blue eyes?

Unless there is a health or safety issue at stake or the person cannot perform the job, then thre is no valid reason for discrimination.
Therefore, I would think discrimination done merely as a joke is wrong.

All discrimination is wrong, but for some reason it's more tolerated when it's about overweight people.

A joke does not equate to discrimination. Discrimination, by definition, means that there is something you're being denied simply because of one defining factor. If I won't let you in my restauarant because you're 'too fat', that's discrimination. If I tell you that you can't try the all-you-can-eat buffet, that's discrimination. If I make a joke about you, that might be in poor taste, but it's certainly not discrimination.

There is a difference between an insult and a joke. A joke is meant to be funny. An insult is meant to hurt feelings. Jokes can turn into insults, but insults can't turn into jokes.
If the person makes fun of you because you are thin, then there should be no problem making fun of them back beacuse they are overweight.

You know, I'm mixed on this one. Being overweight is something you do to yourself so why should I feel sorry for you? It's not the same as being discriminated against for being a certain race. You have no control of that. You do; however, have control of what you eat. Fat people just come off as gluttons and that's why it's easier to discriminate against them........it's wrong, I know.

It's really tasteless. I am not overweight. However, some people are happy that way. Others have real health problems or take med's that make them gain weight. They tend to be really sensitive about it. How would the people making fun of them feel if they were in their shoes?
