There are a couple of products on the market that spray on to remove the mold and mildew~~one product is X-14 mold and mildew remover which I have used in the past and it works very quickly and very well. Another product you might try is OxyClean (in the spray bottle), which pretty much tackles anything with success.

One warning, don't spray a bunch of this stuff on and then leave it for hours, or it will eat through the caulking as well as the mildew. I'd give it about 15 minutes for a really tough job, and then rinse and reapply while monitoring it if you still have any sign of mildew left.

Both of these items are generally available at the larger grocery store chains.

What you need is a mild acid (which is what most commercial cleaning agents are anyway).

Acetic acid (vinegar) is good but a bit strong and doesn't smell very good. If you have the time and patience, try citric acid. Squeeze limes/lemons in sufficient quantity to give you enough liquid to cover all of the scale. Don't take a shortcut and dilute the juice, decimate enough limes/lemons to give you juice enough to cover the scale.

Leave for several hours. Really, don't be impatient. The longer you leave it alone, the softer the scale becomes.

Clean with a brush with fairly stiff bristles.

Wash the whole mess off.

As a bonus, the scent of lime/lemon will linger for days.

The reason this is happening is possibly not enough insulation under the tub/shower area...
You can use spray can insulation and I would use low expansion
If bleach does not work that is probably the problem
