when big oil feels truly threatened by alternative fuel sources

When pigs fly. President Bush is not the only reason gas prices are so high. PLENTY of people are making LOTS of money. The only way it will go down is if we have no use for it anymore. We NEED it so they could make it $10.00/gallon if they wanted to, most of us would still have to buy it. It sucks, I know. I was just talking to my boss about this earlier. If we worked four ten-hour days rather than five eight-hour days, we could save on gas! I'm seriously considering a part time job close to home just for gas money.

This really doesn't have anything to do with him or his administration. It has to do with greed and apathy.

Gas prices will never truly go down. They've set a precedent. They can go up to $4, and when gas goes back down to, say, $3.30, we'll go, "Oh, gas is cheap!"

The fact that no one is stomping up to the doors of the billion dollar CEOs at Exxon, etc. and saying, "Dude, seriously, quit lying to us" says we're willing to pay it. The fact that traffic hasn't really decreased anywhere says we're willing to pay it. The fact that instead of taking the bus, we think buying a small car versus an SUV is a solution says we're willing to pay it.

We have no one but ourselves to blame. I'm included.

And even if we did find alternatives like ethanol, the rules of economics still apply. Demand will go up, and any smart business person will raise prices. It's already started happening with E-85.

I don't like Bush, but I don't think his leaving office will make a bit of difference. Not one bit. Besides, the oil companies have zero allegiance to ANY nation. They only care about MONEY!

no it is simple supply and demand we are oil whores and every one in responsible for it i am guilty you are guilty even if everyone just cut out 10percent of there weekly driving habits that is millions and millions of gallons every week so every one just quit complaining about the prices and do something and when gas goes to 5 dollars a gallon it is because of our own making.

After summer, when people stop traveling by car. Oh- and before the next election.

it will only go down if demand for gasoline goes down, so maybe when everyone buys hybrid or electric or fuel cell cars, then supply will go up and demand will go down for gasoline, otherwise it will continue to rise
