Australian and New Zealand troops fought in France, Belgium and Gallipoli during WWI.
Australia sent over 300,000 soldiers to fight overseas, and we lost 46,000 of these in France and Belgium, out of a total 60,000+ killed, plus thousands more wounded.
Australians fought not only in the well-known battles at Gallipoli, but also in places across the Western Front (France & Belgium) such as Villers Brettoneux, Le Hamel (where we pulled off a great victory under our Australian General, Sir John Monash, alongside American forces), The Somme, Albert and many other places, being a strong force despite our small numbers.
Australia was on the front from the beginning of 1916 (after fighting in Gallipoli) to the end of 1918, when the war was declared at an end. We were involved in many battles of military significance, such as saving the town of Villers Brettoneux in 1918 from heavy attacking German forces as well as playing a vital role in breaking the Hindenburg Line in 1918 which contributed to the end of the war.
We also fought in Palestine and other countries (The Eastern Front) against the attacking Austrian-Hungarian forces.

WW1 extended to the European colonies as they fought each other. Each of the European colonies in Africa got involved. At the end of the war Germany lost her colonies in Africa, the South Pacific and China.
Turkey sided with Germany in the Middle East. England had its colonies (as did the French) in that part of the world. And some famous battles took place (ie Gallipolli) between the British and her colonies (Australia/New Zealand) and the Turks.
The famous Lawrence of Arabia was a British officer stationed in Saudi Arabia fighting against Germany and her allies in that region.
Germany even tried to get Mexico to attack the US but their negotiations were discovered.
