The Bengals can just do what they're supposed to do. Last season was an aberration, and here's what most people (especially including Bengals fans) seem to be missing: the arrests had little to do with the team's performance last year. The offensive line wasn't able to gel due to injuries, and Carson was just coming off of a major knee injury (and still put up top-3 QB numbers). Add to that the fact that our offensive coordinator is possibly the most predictable in the league, and you have the makings of a team that can't overcome its less-than-stellar defense.
Adding to that, the secondary couldn't mask its coverage flaws with the same amount of interceptions it had the previous season, and the two starting corners showed a selfish streak that led to several of the losses. The front seven is not the problem on defense that people make it out to be: it was the secondary, and hopefully that's fixed now.
But in my opinion, the biggest problem for the Bengals is the fans (and I say this as a season ticket holder). The fans in Cincinnati seem to have forgotten what things were like before Marvin got here. If the fans learn to just sit back and trust Marvin to do what's right, everything will fall into place. The pieces are there, and he'll be the one to lead them to a Super Bowl.

Chris Henry, Odell Thurman, Frostee Rucker, A.J. Nicholson, where does this parade of mugshots end? *rolls eyes* Strangely enough it's not the legal problems that have kept the Bengals out of the Super Bowl. I can't think of a single game in the last few seasons to which I could point and say, "The Bengals would have won that game if [Player X] hadn't been in legal trouble."
It's clear that the Bengals are no longer the Bungles of old: they have more talent and better coaching. They are solid at the offensive skill positions, have had a great giveaway/takeaway ratio, and have an energized fan base.
Still, they have only one winning season (2005) in the last four seasons (actually, the last sixteen seasons) to show for it. The Browns aside, the Bengals are certainly in a tough division. But they need to be even tougher if they want more than another 8-8 season.
That team has been hampered by an inability to stop the run and big passing plays, a mediocre pass rush, and having Mike Brown as its leader. They've taken a lot of risks in the draft, both with character problems and health problems, and they need to stop that & start building a solid & deep base of dependable players.

The Chris Henry report is not true as they are still gathering infomation. LB Nicholson today as well. On the field wise the Bengals are just not making the plays they needed too last year. Yes they need a better D and who knows maybe they are going to be better this year. The Bengals are a playoff contender now wether they have players in jail or not. This draft was a good first step to not having as many people in jail since they didnt draft anyone with a "red flag".

The Bengals have most of the tools they need to dominate.
One of the key ingredients they are missing is heart.
Last year, too much selfish play cost them games.
I know of two games for sure that henry cost us thansk to dropping passes that Chad or T.J. would have caught.
Also, the showboating garbage needs to stop, and NOW!
Last yer, I cant remember the game, but Tory James made a pick and proceeded to showboat down the field about 15 yards, but if he would have kept his head in the game, he would have seen the seam that would have led him to the end zone.
Marvin needs to drop the hammer on these kids and start benching more people.
I am worried about the offensive line since we lost Steinbach to the Clowns and Rich Braham retired.
We need to keep Carson protected.
Also, finally, looking back at the entire seaon last year, they did not use Rudi as much as they did the previous year, and with Carson coming off the injury, it would have been better to establish the run more, then rely on Carson's arm.
Our needs:
Shutdown Cornerback
Madeiu to stay healthy all year.
Carson to have time in the pocket.
David Pollack to come back healthy.
Selfishness to go home.
Better linebackers.
Run-Stopping, hole-plugging Defensive Tackles!
Thats about it.

Bengals.....I'm not sure what to think of them. They remind me of the Colts three years ago....A team that you look at and think "Only offense...eh". Unless their defense can pick up in that division and conference, they're done for, sorry.
