Which type of "embossing" are you asking about?
... "dry" embossing which indents a sheet of paper, etc., usually by drawing on it over a soft-ish surface using a ball stylus tool
...or heat embossing which uses special embossing powders applied to areas which are made somewhat sticky first, then melted with a heat gun or in another way, to form a solid area of raised color when cooled?

Certainly, the last type would be fine on cardboard since paper doesn't burn at a low temp (would need to use a heat source from the top though like a heat gun or oven, as opposed to one from underneath like a light bulb, since cardstock and cardboard are both much thicker than paper.

You could probably dry emboss cardstock and even cardboard, but depending on the thickness and hardness of the type you chose, the embossing wouldn't be too deep or the edges might be ragged, or the whole inner portion of the embossing may not indent too much.

How To Emboss Cardboard

Depends on whether you are dry or heat embossing...

Dry embossing is where you use a stylus to impress your paper with an image.

Heat embossing requires: a heat tool, embossing powder, desired stamp set and Versa Mark ink pad (found at Micheals, Joanns or through me)

Lightly press your stamp into the Versa Mark pad, stamp the image onto your cardboard, cover with embossing powder (usually doesn't take much), make sure that your entire image is covered with embossing powder, shake off the excess back into the jar...use your heat tool to heat up the embossing powder and watch your image come to "life" ...make sure that you DO NOT heat your image too much...just enough to melt the embossing powder...otherwise you can and will burn your cardboard. Hope this helps. what kind of embossing, the one using brass stencils and an embossing tool or the embossing powder and rubber stamp type embossing, the latter will work on cardboard if you have a heat tool , i dont think the brass stencil type will work , too thick

it's easyer to flip the image horizontally and then going over it with pencil and then putting it to the carboard and then rubbing the paper with something so the lead transfers over to the carboard
