On average
250 songs on a 1gb drive
500 on a 2gb drive
Unless the music player compresses them in anyway.
But then the driver will have lots of program files which will take up a bit probably about 25 songs.

Depends on the compression, and the length of the songs.
WMA or MP3 files at 128 kbps will give about 17 hours per GB.
WMAs are supposed to sound a little better than MP3s at the same bit rate.
If you want more you can go for lower quality at 96 kbps. If you want better quality at 192 kbps you will get less.
If you want to calculate it:
1 GByte = 8 Gbit. =8,000,000,000 bits. (Should be 8*2^30, but chip makers tend to go for the smaller number)
Divide this by the bit rate to give you the number of seconds. so 1 GB at 192 kbit/second gives
8,000,000,000/192* 1024 = 40,690 seconds
or about 11 1/4 hours
96 kbps gives just about 22 1/2 hours.

In normal, one MP3 file with bit rate 128kbs, 44100Mhz take 1 MB for each minute, 1 GB is 1000 MB, can you place as much as you want, i think so!

1 giga can hold up to 200 normal songs (normal is about 4-5mb per song) and 2giga maybe about 350-380 because there will be great memory subtracted from 2giga (for their "programs and drivers") so i suggest if you dont use it too much to buy the one with 1giga, or if you really enjoy listening music and you spend hours and hours with it to buy the one with 2 giga.

basically a regular (average) song is around 4 to 5MB 200 songs with 5mb each with 1 gig. 400 songs with 5mb .
2 gigs is 2,000 and 1 gig is 1,000 so do 1000/music size or 2000/music size.
