Same thing happened to me w/ the depo shot. I bled for over 2 months straight after giving birth to my 3rd child & getting the shot, a heavy middle-period type bleeding too not just spotting. Ofcourse it stopped the day I went to the doctor about it. :P But I decided then that the shot wasn't for me.

I had been on the depo provera shot for 6 months when I was 17 years old (now I am 21) and not only did I bleed continually, I also had mood swings, weight gain, depression, and a host of other side effects. As you probably already know, every three months you must renew the shot. After two rounds, I called it quits! I could not take all of the side effects. After I gave birth to my son, who is now nine months old, I was asked by my OBGYN to start thinking about what kind of birth control I wanted to get on. I did some research and came across IUD's or Intra Uterine Devices. Mine is called Para Gard. I had it put in at my six week appointment and have loved it ever since. This particular IUD is non hormonal, so you don't get that constant bleeding, as with Depo Provera. It also lasts up to 10 years and as soon as you are ready to concieve, just have it removed. Because there are no hormones, you can begin trying to get pregnant immediatly. I know with Depo Provera it could take up to a year once you stop taking the shots. The only side effect I have noticed is that the first month or two with the IUD your period is slightly heavier than usual. Also, when you first get it put in, you might have period like cramps and spotting for a few days. This is only because of the location of the IUD and your body getting used to it being there. I have had the IUD in for about 7 1/2 months now with absolutley no problems. I hope this helps you.

Crazy as it sounds your not alone. I gave birth to my son 8 months ago and got on the depo, well needless to say when he turned 7 months I finally stopped bleeding. The doctor said it is the depo. It has a lot of side effects, like lack in sex drive, long or no period, cramping in body parts, fatigue. that is just some.

yeah it has to be the depo shot, i had similar problem but my problem was the IUD. I think i will be best if u switch to some thing else like the jazmine pill or something thats not going to cause bleeding. Bleeding so much could make u weak and could also cause for u to have anemia. Good luck and also look for a different type of birth control!!!

It very well could be caused by the depo shot. Each woman has different reactions to different BC. I had the same problem when I used depo, so as soon as the three month time wore off, I switched BC and eventually became regular again. That is probably what your doctor will reccommend for you as well, a switch in BC.

i could be from the depo, i had an overreaction to the depo meds and it caused alot of bleeding, cramping ect, it took a few months to be resolved. Try a different form of birth control after this.

I didn't have the depo shot, but I bled for 4 months straight (also passing alot of clots) and found out from the gyno that I hadn't passed all of my placenta and it formed a small mass in my uterus. After a dnc, everything went back to normal.

I had the depo shot years ago and bled for 3 months straight. I never took it again. It's different for different people. Maybe they can suggest something else.

I had the same problem with depo, and my doctor said to keep trying, that it would probably stop. It didn't. Talk to your doc about another form of birth control.

yes, the shot does weird thing to your body...some never have period, and for some the bleeding rarely stops.

I dont recommend the shot.

be careful to get lots of iron so you dont become anemic.
