Hi!
When is it that you become over-ambitious?Is it really okay if you start telling everyone that you expect very high grades in your exams.I know many people who would say that.I thought they were bluffing but it turned out that they did fare well in the exams. So is it okay doing the same thing(not bluffing) or is it better to remain mum abt your expectations to others?

i think it is very important to be ambitious, because ambition means you have some goals to achieve. But, about "telling everyone that you expect very high grades in the exam", i think it's better to remain mum and when people ask you "how was your work?" just tell them " it was ok". Who knows, maybe you made that kinda "silly" mistakes that cause you to lose some marks. You know, 2 years ago i had a mathematics exam, after the exam i was exceptionally happy and i told my dad "you know, i won't get less than 95 "out of 100"". And guess what?! I got 75!!..Why?? because of some mistakes like "7X5 = 30" and" -1-1 = 0!!".....etc. You will never know about these mistakes until you get your paper back. So, just keep calm, and you will get it all when you get the results.
I hope this helps you and good luck.

It's OK to be confident in your abilities, which to some degree will make you ambitious. It's very important that you realize your strengths and develop self-esteem.

Overly ambitious people are usually insecure, and feel that they have to keep achieving higher and higher things in order to feel good about themselves; but since they feel bad about themselves because of insecurity, nothing they achieve is ever enough.

Self-esteem also helps you see the line between being ambitious and being stuck-up. You shouldn't brag or sing your own praises in such a way that you make others feel inferior. But when you feel good about yourself, you can be ambitious because you know our capabilities and you're proud of them, but you also don't need to make anyone else feel bad.

i mean did they ask you or do you just feel compelled to tell everyone that you are going to do great on the exams?

i think it's inappropriate if it is not a subject matter that people are discussing. I think it's reasonable to say "i studied really hard so I think I"ll do well" or "I worked my butt off in that class and I've memorized everything so I think I'll do great" ie emphasize the effort you put in not necessarily the result.

but why do you feel the need to tell everyone anyway? unless they asked.

There is nothing wrong with being ambitious. But I don't think ambition has anything to do with bragging.

It is good to set your goals high, but if you set them too high and don't meet your goal, you will lose your motivation very quickly!

Hope this helps and Good Luck!
