I always slept on my sides, but lately i can't because i'll wake up in the middle of the night with a pain that feels like something is pulling on the inner-side of my belly-button. So i have to lay on my back again and wait for this somewhat painful sensation to stop. Is it the baby moving around? Is this normal? It feels like the baby i suppose, it makes my sleeping a little sparse...Not even a pillow under my tummy helps. It still wakes me up every night..

It is probably the weight of the baby/uterus pulling on the connective tissue. It is not common, but not rare. Talk with your doctor about it, it should subside as the uterus gets too big to pull because it is just all over your abdomen. Sleeping on your back isn't really recommended because it puts all of the weight of your uterus and baby onto your major blood vessels. See if it helps to flip a little more onto your belly when it happens, that should shift the weight and not be pulling on your belly button so much. Make sure your hips and knees are bent to give your abdominal muscles a little extra slack. Maybe try a little heat (a washcloth or towel warmed in the dryer) to relax the tissue so that it doesn't feel like pulling anymore. If you are just exhausted from the lack of sleep, try sleeping in a recliner, the position can help keep some of the weight off of the blood vessels and let you get some sleep! Again, talk with your doctor and best of luck.

Your abdominal muscles are probably stretching and when your body is at rest is when baby does the most growing so it's painful. Unless it's a cramping pain, it will eventually subside. You will have to start sleeping on your sides again soon because when you lie on your back the weight of your pregnancy crushe your blood supply veins/vessels and cuts down the blood flow to your baby. Doctors always tell you not to do this. When this happened to me I used a warm heat pack; I have one of the squishy bead kinds that you can put in the microwave only I heated it until it was only about 100 degrees which is still safe for baby. Also if you can use a bit of oil and gently massage the area in a circular motion anytime during the day it will help your muscles to stretch more easily. Good luck! :)

It's normal for a woman to need to change sleeping positions while pregnant as the baby develops. You may have to continue sleeping on your back while pregnant. It may not be what you are used to, but you can go back to your usual way of sleeping after you have the baby.

You might want to try taking tylenol before bed. I'm 25b weeks along and the pain can really hurt sometimes but it's normal. Always tell your doctor if you don't think something is right. Try using tylenol and sleeping on your back. there's no harm in sleeping on your back. Whatever makes you comfy.

Normal. All three of mine I had to sleep on my back. It;s the weight of the baby and the uterus pulling on your rib cage nd your gut when you lay on your side.

Try putting a pillow or two between your legs when you sleep on your side. That helped my wife a bunch.
