Fiction....if I were no longer in love with my husband I would get a divorce. It has been many years for us and he is still the only man I want and I am certain he feels the same way. We are best friends.
If a couple is bored in their marriage and unable to "spice it up" they should just call it quits before hurting each other and their children anymore.
In my opinion cheaters are selfish people. They may be satisfying a need of their flesh, but they are overlooking their family's feelings which should always come first. Their family would be better off without them.
Using "the 7 year itch" as a reason for infidelity is a copout...There is no such thing.

FICTION-
People who stay in love will not get the "itch". You can't place a time on messing around anyway. It takes some people 6 months and some people 18 years. The key is find the special person then don't just make them fall in love once. Everyday you should be romancing your significant other. Think of new things to do every couple of months that you haven't done to spice up your relationship. When people itch it's not because of time but because a lack on something in the relationship. Oh I forgot..EVERYONE DOESN'T CHEAT ANYWAY! SO YOU KNOW IT'S FICTION...

AS time goes on a married couple get comfortable with each other. Priorities like career and finances, move to the forefront as the couple works to make their dreams come true. Oddly, this priority displace the intense affection the couple had when they marry. Occasionally, someone comes along and distracts from the bond between the married couple. That distraction if intense displaces the marital ties and the distraction becomes an attraction. Some people pursue that attraction, out of a recapture of youth, curiosity or just plain lust.
This situation has more commonly occurred when a couple has been married nearly a decade.

It is a myth. I do think, however, that it is so pervasive in society that people who break up at 7 years, or cheat at 7 years choose it as an excuse. There are different phases in a marriage. And yes, a new phase may be beginning around 7 years, or earlier, or later. It is simply something you need to take in your stride and deal with -- not by cheating, or fighting, but by accepting that things change and people change and you need to find new ways to cope with the change.

FACT. But I think these days it's more like five years. But, that doesn't mean you're destined to cheat. Things can become routine and boring, but only if you let them! Keep the romance alive by having a special "date night". Surprise him with love notes. Surprise her with a single rose. Most importantly, COMMUNICATION! Talk about everything, but remember that on "date night", it's only about the two of you!

Fact. At five years you've heard all of the same stories over, and over, and over again. It's the time when most people are starting their families. Raising children can be an incredibly stressful time for most couples. Successful couples don't stray, lash out at their spouses or children nor walk away. They hang in there. They learn to laugh at themselves. They ride the hurricane out, because it will die out. At the end there are better times.

Total fiction. The reason people cheat on their partners is because we all are immature and selfish, but cheaters tell themselves lies to justify their behavior instead of doing the grown-up thing and remaining true to their spouse.

Fact. But, it's more likely to happen around four years instead of seven. Also, it doesn't necessarily mean you are cheating or wanting to cheat.
