I NEED TO KNOW IF THIS COULD BE DONE WITHOUT ANY ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE. I am currently running windows XP. I tried a system restore and it did not work.

Check the Recycle Bin. If not there, then you will need additional software. Do a google search for undelete.exe which is a dos program. This is a free program. You can run it under a dos window. I think it will run in Fat32 ok, but not for NTFS. I have have had good luck recently on a Win98SE machine. Hopefully your deleted files haven't been written over and aren't recoverable.

Good luck.

All "deleted" files go into the Recycle bin and stay there until it is emptied. If you haven't emptied the bin, double click it and select the files that you want to save and then click "Restore" Windows will put those file back where they were when you Deleted them. If you have emptied the Recycle Bin, then sorry, they are lost and gone forever.

yes if its still in the recycle bin, byou only have to open recycle bin and find the file. then, you have to click on it, hold and drop it on desktop or some file where you want it to be.
but if you deleted it from the recycle bin (if you clicked "empty recycle bin" button) then, unfortunately, you've lost your pictures
