i was hospitalized at 29 and 33 weeks for preterm labor but never put on bedrest. at 33 weeks they said i was 3 cm dilated, 50% effaced and baby at -2 station. at 33.5 weeks, my entire 5-inch long mucus plug came out and i'm continuing to lose bits. BH contractions are sporadic. what are the chances that i'll go more than a few weeks before labor? from what i read it could be a few days or a few weeks. i am 34.5 weeks now. thanks!

My first son was born at 34.5 weeks, I had no warning, and never noticed my mucous plug leaving. My second came at 37 weeks but I was on bed rest from week 28 to week 36. Even without the doctor's say, get thee to a bed/chair! Stay off your feet (take the stupid cart things if you have to go to Walmart). No dishes, no mopping, no vacuuming, just rest. Don't sit fully upright, try a recliner and keep your feet up and avoid a hard chair. No sex! At 36 weeks, the baby will be considered full term so just take it day by day and try to eek out another week and a half. My son was nearly perfect, he has always had some trouble keeping weight on, but he is really smart and healthy. I'm at 34 weeks with number three and am on bedrest for another two weeks. I have some serious housecleaning plans for week 36 (my hubby just doesn't do it right). It is horrible being stuck in bed, the summer is here and I want to take my boys to the park and I want to decorate the baby's room some more and I want to do SOMETHING. Its worth it though, I wouldn't guess that you will make it to 40, but try for at least 36. Good luck.

These are critical weeks for you and your baby. Even if the doctor does not think it is neccessary, I'd put myself on bedrest because the safest place for your baby is inside you, TAKE IT SUPER EASY ! Don t be so prideful and independent. You need to stay off your feet so that your baby can properly develop and grow. Resist those nesting instincts to hustle about and get the nursery perfect. I lost my mucus plug, was told not to worry abouit it, the beginning signs of labor...blah blah blah ...I had my first child at 35 weeks and then spent the next three months in the neonatal unit and also have had to deal with the many challenges of having a premature baby...now, I deal with the challenges of having a special needs adult...soooo, my advice is to put your own self on bed rest because these small decisions and small sacrifices, you will make for the next few weeks could conceivably impact the rest of your life! Good luck with your new baby! Motherhood is a blast!

sorry ur having a hard time but the truth is there really is no way to tell its kinda up to ur body and the baby at this point.i was in labor for 3and a half months constantly and it was hard but the baby came out fine. is there anyway u can put urself on bedrest im pretty sure it would help if nothing else u would at least get the rest u need before the baby comes. but the les u exurt urself the less ur body tenses up so ur contractions may stop all u can do is try and it cant hurt anythi ng. good luck hun i hope all goes well and congratulations!

I'd just suggest to put yourself on light duty. Your Dr may say everything will be fine with a preterm labor, but that could be far from the truth! Heck at just a week and a half early my daughter had a slight case of jaundice for a week. Her liver had needed that extra week to develop.
Either way, I'd take it WAY easy since your only 34 weeks.

I wouldn't expect you to go anymore than another 2 or 3 weeks, but babies come when they want to come. Good Luck!

only your doctor can answer this. not a random group of strangers on the net. all i can say is stay off your feet,. its time for bed rest. you need to keep that baby in as long as possible. call your doctor and let them know your plug is out he needs to know that. any questions that deal with medical issues need to go straight to your doctor not yahoo answers as we are not qualified to hear read or answer them

to my knowledge if you lost or are losing your plug, it more than likely will be no longer than a week.
