Are atheist people limiting the power of our Creator in there lives by not believing? What are the benefits of believing in the Creator? What are the benefits in not believing?

I am so sorry to know... there are so many people who lack faith and belief..
Most of the people who I know are the complete opposite..You are still my brothers and sisters, and I pray that your eyes will become opened..It always amazes me to read...that there are so many who do not know to believe..I only witness this on the internet..It is actually mind blowing..

The benefits in believing is,.. you shall have a life after this life that is worryfree, and you will be able to see your loved ones (who died believing) again in the new life..You will then have hope in the next life for your children..

If you don't believe, you are guaranteed a life of torment, and eternal damnation..

Have you thought about,.. at least asking the Creator,.. to reveal himself to you, if he is real..It doesn't hurt to ask..

I asked, and he proved himself to me..He proved himself to me before I attended church faithfully..

It is your duty as a child of God to seek out your Creator. love 2 U

Darlings, limiting yourself mean,... due to your non-belief... you are missing out on the blessings of God Almighty that he gives to his children while we are here on earth..For instance..(The benefits of experiencing miracles, blessings, supernatural insight ie dreams, visions, angelic encounters, and etc..) The good news is.. Our Creator rains on the just and the unjust..He gives everyone so many chances to believe..The sad news is, after so many chances,.. if you don't believe, you can eventuallly lose your life, before it is actually time for you to go..Please, come to the religious section..We will talk with you..I trully care..I am a very strong lady minister..I can handle your non-belief

My brothers and sisters you use a lot of man made created words that can sound very impressive to the ignorant and the unlearned..You speak on philosophy, science, the right to not believe, not believing in what you can't see, and etc..What I am speaking of is real..Do not allow those man written text books to deter you from the reality of the one who have created you..Those studies and text books are not based on reality..They are based on the authors limited mind..The only mind that mean anything in life, is the mind of GOD ALMIGHTY..Once you establish a person relationship with God, he will allow you to see and experience the supernatural..Things that a limited mind, cannot began to comprehend, or imagine..This is what I am speaking of..I want to take you on a higher level than the level of understanding another humans mind..There is a higher realm then the human mind..I am speaking of the supernatural..Most of you are too scared to test it..I am here..Will you take a chance?

Atheists do not want to believe because It would eliminate the ability to do what you want to do, with out having to answer to anyone. With that comes heartache and pain, never being content with life, and suffering. Believing in God gives me a since of security, not only knowing that I am going to heaven, but that in giving myself completely to him, I am doing his will and will full fill his purpose for me.

Well this kind of depends on which faith you're talking about. But most monotheist beliefs say that an atheist does hurt himself by not believing, because they will not be rewarded after their death and sometimes even punished (for living their lives for theirselves instead of for their God). I don't think there are many (monotheistic)beliefs that hold that not believing would limit the power of the creator, since the creator is mostly omnipotent.

Nope I'm not hurting at all!
Do I believe in God? NO!
Does religion have a place in the world? Yes, it brings comfort to many people and if for no reason other than that it does have a purpose.

In my opinion the problem begins when over zealous fanatics begin having to force their beliefs on others. They should practice what they preach and be more tolerant of other religions. There would have been far fewer wars in the history of the world. I guess the commandment "Thou shalt not kill" is supposed to be rewritten as Thou shalt not kill unless you really think you have a good reason or have made up some law to permit it.

Not to mention the fact that all the publicity surrounding all the priests and evangelists committing all these sins doesn't help draw a crowd. Well... at least not a good one.

A great philsopher once debated the same question--to believe or not? His decision is a good one. He said, "If there is a God, why take the chance and go around saying you are an atheist? So, believe in God. And if you were wrong and there is none, no harm done. But if you were right, you hit the jackpot after you die."
Most people could pick one strong, moral person to follow and it would be better than some of the fools who say they believe in God but act in a prejudiced or cruel manner toward other people. Why not follow Gandhi or Dr. M.L.King or even your favorite president (unless his last name is Bush)?

Atheists don't believe in the Creator. That's something that you must truly understand from the beginning. They really don't believe that the entity you refer to as God exists.

Really. They don't.

Now, given that: they don't have "there lives." They have "their lives."

I wonder how many people, other than Pascal and that sort, sit down and work out the risk/return analysis of believing vs not believing. One either believes or does not.

I think God still loves and cares about them even though he is disappointed by the choices the atheists make. The benefits are that it gives you something to turn to when nothing else works for you. It gives you a sense of belonging and a feeling of love when no one else seems to care. As far as benefits of not believing, I guess you will have to look to the atheist to explain that one.

The benefits of not believing are learning to stand on ones own feet and not needing fantasies to find meaning in ones life.

I was unaware that a god had any real power over anything. You can imagine that it has power but that does not change anything.

Limiting power of god by not believing? C'mon now you're supposed to hold that god is omnipotent.

What are the benefits of belief versus non-belief? The question is irrelevent; people don't usually come into religious belief/disbelief by way of a cost benefits analysis.

Are atheists hurting themself by disbelief? You make a mistake by assuming atheist to be some sort of single, coherent group, like if one were to assume christians in a single group, Snake Handlers are quite a different sort than your garden variety Anglican. Just like it would be silly of me to say that it is harmful to be a christian because one gets bitten by poisonous snakes, the same goes for make any blanket statement about atheists or anyother wide and varied group of people.

By the by, the philosopher the fellow above is referring to is Pascal, the argument is called Pascal's Wager. It basically goes along the lines that I can either believe or not, if I believe and am wrong I really don't lose much of anything if I don't believe and am wrong, I get eternal dmanation, which is losing a good deal--so I ought choose to belief. Of course, Pascal's Wager is totally useless because we could apply it to any sort of imaginary premise. Like believing in Greg the Fairy King or risk eternally being roasted on a spit. So, you can read the literature on Pascal, but his argument doesn't carry much water in contemporary philosophy.

***Addendum***

Oh I was confused, I thought you actually wanted to ask a question and receive a frank answer. My mistake, the fact of the matter is that one cannot have a productive exchange without the possibility of each party being willing to risk actually being convinced. You fit the mould of the all-american blockhead--that is, unhappy with any answer but the one you want to hear. If that's the case, go to bible study and gripe and moan with people who already are of the same mind.

Some people can suspend reason and logic and believe in the super natural. What they get out of it is a comforting fantasy. The rest of us who are unable to suspend reason and logic are doomed to deal with reality. But knowing that all things are of the natural world is comforting to those that can handle reality. Wondering what a god thinks of your behavior all the time can cause a lot of anxiety. I have met many tormented religious people but have yet to meet a tormented atheist.

I guess we will find out when we die....It never hurt anybody to believe in God.
EDIT* My grandfather was a Methodist preacher , I know everything I need to know about the bible I don't need to find things out on the Internet or from anybody else. I do believe in God and I do believe in evolution, I also believe the world and people was created by greater source of power. Sorry if the non-believers don't agree with me. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs. So their votes are not going to get me to heaven. I don't think preaching on the computer is either it is not the place for it.

I even have considered the Taj Mahal in individual. I even have considered photographs of the outcomes of radiation poisoning via multiple channels. I even have considered photographs of the moons of Jupiter. I even have used a telescope to confirm the potholes on the moon. I adventure gravity each time I leap. those are all issues which would be considered and skilled. existence of god can purely be believed, not widely used. in case you won't have the ability to admit that, then you definitely are doing a disservice to your self and those with whom you talk on such concerns. you're able to have self assurance regardless of you prefer to have self assurance. I have no difficulty with that. do exactly not assume me to do an analogous. And technological information relies upon on observations and repetition of outcomes, not faith. Please end being so self-righteous as to think of you comprehend what won't have the ability to be widely used. the international would not revolve around your evaluations to any extent further than it does mine.
