You mean what is AN Emo. They are usually severely depressed (or posing as such) rock stars, teenagers, poets and such. The lyrics to Emo music sound like someone in serious need of some anti-depression meds or something.

emo (emotional) is similar to punk, but emo kids are full of emotion. its kind of like a love=pain=death type of thing.
Some emo expressions to help you understand:
Don't be afraid of pain, pleasures on the other side.

emo = emotional people. they're so annoying and consider themselves to be "unique" and indidividuals but in reality irs such a common click to be in and they're everywhere. they're also considered "scene kids" and i can't stand them.
the music is always sad and negative and depressing. its usually just a phase and a lot of high school and middle school kids like it. they get some sense when they get into college though.

emo is short for emotional. its a stereotypical name for kids who are constantly crying, being depressed, cutting themselves and generally thinking too deeply into the meaning of life. they're the kids that u see walking round wearing black, with drainpipe skinny jeans, massive hair (usually randomly covered in bows) with eye covering fringes. they also tend to sport stripes and black rimmed glasses. this is of course the stereotype, but lets face it they're a walking satire

Lately, mostly as a trend, people has used Emo as a lable. Such as "Preppy" "Goth" "Punk" and so on.
