all the books say to start laying on your left side. however my little one would kick and push EVERY time i tried that. as soon as i rolled to my back (considered a no no) she stopped. i figured if i was more comfortable so was she. but i didn't sleep on my tummy....talk to your doctor.
congrats and good luck!

I was a tummy sleeper my entire life up until my first pregnancy, and when it finally got too uncomfortable, I became a side sleeper...and I still am to this day. I started becoming uncomfortable on my tummy by about 14-15wks. But FYI--your left side is the best side to sleep on.
I've never heard that it is UNsafe to sleep on your tummy while pregnant. I'd think it'd be more uncomfortable than dangerous.
I remember my mom missed sleeping on her tummy so much when she was pregnant that what she would do was go to the swimming pool and lie on her tummy on one of those big floating rafts. Her tummy didn't meet any resistance because of the water, and she would lay there for hours like that.

Sleeping on your left side is the best for circulation. I'm 34 weeks pregnant with my third baby and I slept on my tummy all the way through all three. At the end, its like sleeping on a basketball and you end up half on your side anyway. The baby is well cushioned and its no big deal. I try to start on my side, but always end up on my tummy anyway. The most important part is getting sleep. Good luck and enjoy your pregnancy.

It is completely safe until its uncomfortable for you. During all of my pregnancies, as a tummy sleeper, I have been able to sleep comfortably on my tummy until about 4 months. AFter that I compromise with a half on my side half on my tummy with a pillow under by belly.

You'll know when to stop. It will just get uncomfortable at one point and that'll be it for the rest of the pregnancy. I'm now 33 weeks pregnant and let me tell you, I slept on my stomach I think until about week 20 or so. The doctor said as long as I was comfortable it was ok.

You can sleep on your tummy as long as you're comfortable. Your baby is well protected inside the strong, muscular walls of your uterus, and his amniotic sac.
Also, at 9 weeks, you baby is buried in your pelvis. You can't squish him/her. :) I still end up on my tummy some nights (15 weeks),and it's only mildly strange.
Once you hit 16--18 weeks, you might want to invest in a body pillow.

I am 21 weeks and I wake up half on my stomach sometimes. The belly is getting in the way though! As long as you aren't uncomfortable it should be ok until you get too big to lay that way anymore. Your body will tell you if something is wrong. If you are super worried about it.. ask your doctor.

It's not, you should sleep on your left side because the baby gets better oxygen flow. If you find yourself sleeping any other way it's not too big a deal just flip to your ledt side.

It's at 16 weeks that you are supposed to start sleeping on your left side. It provides the best blood flow to the baby.
