Yes, outside of the Dakota, where he was living. I was in high school and everyone was devastated. He was such a peaceful person, he'd even recently stopped to chat w/ Mark Chapman (the shooter) a few days prior when that nutjob camped out outside of John (Lennon)'s home. What an awful waste.

I was going to school in San Marcos at the time. I drove to Austin with some friends that evening to sing "give peace a chance" under the Zilker Christmas tree along with several hundred other "old hippies".

to dee-it was waayy before my time too and even i knew it!not all kids now days listen to that rap hip hop stuff-i'm almost 15 and my fave music is from the 50's 60's 70's and 80's.
