You should leave him alone. These fish have a ray in their fins they can put up or down to "anchor" themselves in place. It keeps predators from being able to pull them out to eat them. If you keep pulling him out, you're only going to stress him, and make him try to find a smaller and more secure hole to hide in. Once he feels comfortable in your tank (which may be a while now), he'll come out on his own.

If you're really concerned about him being stuck, at least give him a few pieces of PVC pipe to hide in that are a little larger than he is - he can still get inside to hide, but the smooth walls will keep him from being "stuck". You'll have to change sizes as he grows, because they like the hiding spots to be as small as possible to keep predators from coming in after them.

trigger fish don't get stuck. They are specifically designed to wedge into crevices when stressed or when just beig a triggerfish. The fins extend and become rigid and hold them in there. they mean to do this. Leave then alone, turn the lights out and don't fret so much, the fish will come out on his own when he decides to relax. giants habds cracking me out of tank decor would not make me feel relaxed.

They are very beautiful fish! If you have objects with a large opening at the bottom and that opening get smaller as you go through or up it, then simple lodge something into the smaller part so that your fish can't get through it.
