I don't own a computer myself, I use the library. Is this a replacement for a floppy that I do use? How do I use it?

Yes flash drives are replacing floppys and they are wonderful!!! There should be a USB port on the computer you are using...its like a tiny rectangle and very narrow...you insert the end of the flash drive into it and most have some sort of light on them that lets you know they are connected, or the computer will have a screen open that says how do you want to open this device, or new device found...then when you are saving make sure you select the drive that you put it into..(like drive:J or drive:K it would look something like that)

A flash drive can store MANY times more info than a floppy disk. Just plug in the flash drive in a USB port (the place that looks like it will fit) and go to My Computer
The flash drive should be listed as E: or a USB Mass Storage Device
Then use it like a floppy

You answered your own question.

Use a flash drive, thumb drive, USB drive or whatever else they may be called just as you would use a floppy disk. When plugged in to the computer, it shows up as a removable drive with a drive letter that is higher than the computer's built in drives. Perhaps drive E:\ or F:\.

Files can be stored on a USB drive just as with a floppy, but without the same small size restrictions. Even a tiny USB drive has a much greater capacity than a floppy disk. A single USB drive can often holding as much information as hundreds of floppies.

u can think flash drive as replacement for floppy as well as CD-ROM's and R/W's as it is easy to carry and stores more data(Depending on the size)

now using it if u have windows XP loaded then just plug it in any of the USB sockets which will surely located in the back side of the cabinet below socket for monitor
if u have any other OS then u have to install the driver u got with the drive

On newer computers there is a slot to plug it in to. Once you plug it it, you open it and drag all the stuff you want into the folder.

Then before you unplug it, click on the icon on the lower right corner and let it know you're done. then just unplug it.

Here's a good page to walk you through it.

Good luck
