most computers have a calculator
finding out a single unknown in a math equation should not even need the use of a calculator.

8x - 1/2 = 23 1/2 = 24 - 1/2
so:
8x = 24
so:
x = 3

3:(2/3)x - 12 = 18
18 + 12 = 3:(2/3)x
so:
3:(2/3)x = 30
so:
30 mult 3 = (2/3)x = 90
x = 135

which maybe means that you use the sign : as multiplication?
if so:
3 mult (2/3) x - 12 = 18
18 + 12 = 3 mult (2/3) x = 30
so
30/3 = (2/3) x = 10
x = 15

you sure the options are correct? trick question? or I goofed somewhere?

(3 1/7) x = 44
1 = 7/7
3 = 21/7
(22/7) x = 44
so:
44 mult 7 div 22 = x
x = 14

2x - 1 2/5 = 7,4
1 = 5/5
so:
2x - 7/5 = 7,4
7/5 = 14/10 = 1,4
so:
2x = 7,4 + 1,4 = 8,8
x = 4,4
