Given that unlike the other sports these guys are years away from making the majors in many cases the signing bonuses are were all the money is and they drop of dramtically after the first few guys and depend somewhat on what other options that player has. Players can be drafted out of high school but choose to go to college instead. They could also choose to play other sport. Bonuses are intended to get them into the farm system as quickly as possible.
