a flashing service engine soon light means that a engine misfire that is severe enough to cause damage to the cat. convertor is happening. Having work on that type of vehicle often, I would say that, 1. a wire is broken or not all the way on, 2 a pair of wire switched around or 3. A broken spark plug. Also if you look in you owners manuel spark plugs have a life of 100,000 miles.

There are 2 conditions that will cause this to happen.
1) The spark plug wires are not completely seated on the plugs. Check and resecure each one. Also check continuity on the wires. You man have damaged or pulled the wires apart from the connector upon removal.
2) using Bosch plugs will cause this problem. You are almost always tied into using AC Delco on this particular vehicle.

Make sure the spark plug wires are securely. Did you check the spark plug gap before installing them? They usually don't have the correct gap when you buy them. An incorrect gap, or a loose wire, can cause the engine to misfire, and this will cause the light to go on.
Good luck!

FLASHING??
That means there is something terribly wrong with the engine and some type of failure is about to happen.
You probably got a couple wires hooked up to the wrong spark plugs, and the computer is confused.

Replace the gas cap. It may be bad, even without any visible indications. You mention the SES light comes on, so a code should be set in the computer. This car has a 36,000 mile warranty. If you're under that, beat the dealer up until he fixes it. If not, see if you can borrow a gas cap to see if resolves the problem.

Most likely you need an O2 sensor, I had the same issue, and I went crazy. An O2 sensor will run anywhere from 26.99 to 52.99(labor not included) Good Luck.
