In his song "Loves me like a rock" - it sounds as if he thinks that is good. No call me crazy but if someone said that they loved me like a rock, I don't think that would mean much.

I think what he means is that his mother's love is strong, solid and not fragile (just like a rock). So, yes, that would be a good thing.

well having had "rock" own me for about 5 1/2 years, I can tell you I loved it like no other...

Of course it doesn't mean much! Hilary Swank called her hubby (Chad Lowe) her "rock" at the '05 Golden Globes... and now look! They're dee-vorced. Lesson learned: don't call your loved one a rock unless you want to sabotage your relationship.
