I live with a flatmate who does that, each time i want to eat something i have to wash the plate again...grrr...eating dry food is OK,but having your tea frothing up in the cup is just beyond things that i can take . I would much rather eat something from a dish washed only with hot water without soap at all: human guts are strong, and as long as the dish wasn't in contact with raw meat, rotten food or eggs everything should be fine. however the washing up liquid is designed to break up fat molecules which cannot be good for your intestines, what happens to your hands when you had too much liquid:they get dry and it is easier to get a skin infection, the same could happen to your guts.

Because modern washing up liquids (and I only use Fairy) are designed to run off in the suds, there's no need for rinsing. I don't know anyone who does it your way.

Probably because they figure that the suds will run off while they are drying. But that is definately not sanitary and doesn't kill as many germs as both washing and rinsing together do. So remember, always rinse your dishes.

I never rinse the suds off and my family don't suffer with stomach problems so it can't be doing us any harm. No one I know rinses them off they actually do dry off anyway . It's not as though I am eating my dinner on a plate with frothy bubbles on it. How many actually dry their plates etc with a cloth ? how many germs are on that cloth . The world as gone mad over blooming germs . In my case it has nothing to do with laziness I have a lovely clean home and have never to date poisoned anyone with my soapy dishes :)

I always rinse the glasses and cutlery, but don't bother with the rest. Does that make me good or bad?

That is a great question and one that I have asked to myself many times. I make sure all the soap is rinsed off - I don't want my food tasting like Dawn the next day!

Maybe it is just laziness on their part!
