The lights worked fine before, but we accidentaly let the wire rub on the road. Some of the wires wore through. I stripped the wires and reconnected them. Now the running lights work, but the brake and flashers do not. Where should I start ? What should I check?
What is the best way to fix it ?

Thank you in advance.

Your trailer is not grounding well to the truck.

five wires for the trailer, one ground which works cause you have running lights. one wire for each side of the running lights which are ok cause you have the running lights then a wire on each side for each directional. Buy a cheap wire tester and check each wire and have someone put the foot on the brake while testing each wire. If everything seems OK then try again further towared the lights that dont work. if everythings not OK then trace it toward the vehicle

u need to get a ohms tester ( most lotage testers do this) and test each line to see if there is a ground or open connection and then also make sure there is a good ground connection from the vehicle to the trailer cause this can cause lots of troubles.
all the best

Check the brake bulbs, they may have shorted out. Then check for power at the light socket with a test light. If you have power the ground connection on the trailer is bad.

Check your fuses. Some vehicles have seperate trailer light fuses. Refer to your owners manual to see if yours does.
