It wouldn't irritate me.....if it was reasonable....I mean if you're doing something that's damaging yourself, him or the relationship then I don't see it as wrong. You should really be concerned with his motive behind the forbidding.

Forbid me??? he wouldn't dare, in this country women are treated as equals and we make our own decisions about things. He forbids you to cut your hair short? God what a cave man, tell him that if he wants you to have long hair then he can wash it and look after it, he'll soon change his mind lol....we don't live in the dark ages anymore, no one has any right to forbid someone to do something (of course except the police if it is an illegal act).

If someone you are involved with "forbids" you period...no matter what it is...RUN LIKE THE WIND away from this creep!
"Controlling" behavior is a RED FLAG that must NOT be ignored...trust me..I know all too well...
You are a person...who has a RIGHT to do whatever it is you want (within reason and the law!!!)...and NO ONE (other than Mom or Dad if you are under 18) has the right to tell you what you can or cannot do....

My husband would never forbid me to do anything. He lets me know how he feels about something and then we discuss it. He has let me know that he prefers long hair, but neither of us forbids the other from doing things.

Your hair may be something that attracted him to you. Hair is not that big of a deal and he shouldnt forbid you to do anything but I dont think arguing over it is the solution.
No chocolate either...it sounds like he is trying to be controlling. Dont let him.

Too bad for you. but my man knows better that to try and forbid me to do anything. You have to set you limits day one if he forbids you is because he can

Depends on if it's reasonable. If he forbid me to sleep with other men, that would be reasonable.

If he tries to forbid me to eat chocolate, he's out of luck.

I guess it depends on what it is first. Some things are also better if two people go through the motion of discussing it. If there is no discussion then I would see what the problem is.

Not everything is easy to discuss and some guys are stubborn. I think you have to figure out why he is like that and then decide if it's worth getting upset about. I mean not everything is worth it. Some things are sort of "stupid" or not worth getting upset about. You need to figure out what is important to you and your boyfriend.

'Fess up and tell us what it is he forbids you to do. Nobody can answer this question without knowing what it is.
The fact that 'forbid' has come into your relationship signals that you are on opposite sides on some issue, and it had better be an important one.

My feelings would go beyond irritation. My husband would never forbid me to do anything, nor would I forbid him. That's just disrespectful.
