I'd stay at the Sugar Bay Wyndham in St. Thomas. They have a beach as well as an awesome swimming pool with a waterfall. They have a great buffett as well as an outdoor bbq, and their fruit cocktails are amazing. I would warn to stay away from Sapphire Beach Resort. It has declined tremendously within the last year or two. They claim a lot of ammenities they clearly don't have anymore. such as a bar and live entertainment. I know St. Thomas has a Ritz and Marriott. The Ritz is of course beautiful, but they are doing construction, I'm not sure if that is still going on or will affect your stay. Good luck with your trip!

memyself AND Tapanga are both right; Ritz, Sugar Bay, Marriott are a little more glitterati.......you'd find say, Madonna there.....you'd find Jimmy Buffett at Bolongo which is less glittzy and way more island laid back
