Anyone know about Robins?

Question

Will a robin move her babies if she thinks they are in danger? How can you tell if it's a boy or girl? If the mom abandons them, is it possible for a human to take care of them? How old are they before they start to fly?

Males are more brightly colored than females. They will not move the babies -- they don't have the ability to do that. Humans can take care of abandoned babies, but you should BE ABSOLUTELY SURE that they are abandoned. Usually -- they are not.

A Robin has no way of moving the babies if there is danger. They are not capable of carrying their young.
The males and females are marked the same, but males are more vibrant, with the females having a brownish or grayish head and back and a dull rusty breast while the males have almost black head and back with a bold brick-red breast.
In some areas, Robins are known to have 2 clutches in the spring. They will kick fledged young out of the nest and lay another clutch, so just because you see a young robin hanging out in the tree, it doesn't mean they've been abandoned. They live in communal groups with the males tending them. You should leave them alone and not try to hand rear them.
They generally start learning to fly at 8-10 weeks old.
