That kid won't get another ball past us, we know him now. Of course, I can't prove that until next season. We won't face the Yanks again during the regular season, and I doubt we'll be seeing them in the playoffs on our way to a World Series with Boston (there was a prediction embedded in that sentence, did you catch it?)
Also.. hey.. the Empire State Building still went blue and orange. All we needed was two out of three.
And lastly, we're 3 games ahead of the freakin' Braves! ;)

Many times a rookie pitcher getting his first start has the advantage over the other team. The batters have not had a chance to see what kind of stuff he has and usually can't cross the hitters up the first time out. That's not to say that he will have the same success next time he sees the same team.

Young pitchers with good stuff can sometimes have the edge over batters that have not faced him in the past. The kid had everything going last night and did well, you have to give him credit. If he hangs around in the big leagues for awhile and the batters see him a few time the outcome will, no doubt, will be different.

Sounds like you are a Mets fan. They had never seen this kid before so did not know what to expect. He was the Yankees savior. I thought it was a good game, because you did not know this kid's potential and he sure showed it.

They had never seen the kid before and there wasn't enough information on him as to how to hit him.
To his credit, Clippard ketp a lot of balls low in the strike zone and away from the fat part of the plate.

EDIT: The ball replaced right into a physically powerful ten or fifteen ft into the outfield. EDIT: definite, Castillo made the blunders. definite, he neglected the ball, and he could desire to have caught it. definite, he could desire to have used 2 arms. i'm no longer blaming it on Church, yet i'm removing all the blame from Castillo. Luis is greater to blame than all of us, yet Church replaced into no greater desirable than ten ft at the back of him. From a different attitude, sportscenter confirmed Church precise at the back of Castillo whilst the ball replaced into way interior the air nonetheless, and he replaced into quite strolling to the dugout. The play is two times as undemanding for an outfielder to make, and Church will probably even admit that he could desire to have called Castillo off. Wow. you are the twenty-first man or woman to ask this question. all of us makes blunders, this is purely his replaced into on the incorrect time. Church could have and could desire to have called him off and caught it himself.

you just think it wasn't as good because the mets got stopped by a no-name kid. had the mets shelled him you would be praising the sweep, but the kid broke up the sweep with great pitching.
ps you are deff a mets fan

he pitched well, he pitched seven strong so as far as people saying that it was because they never seen him before, all the starters got 3 plate appearences, as well the view from the on deck circle, the kid kept the ball low and hit the corners

I agree. It was frustrating, that rookie was pretty lucky, he showed confidence and pitched good. How 'bout David Wright!!
