Borrow a baseball glove and get out there with some friends and throw the ball around with your friends. Let someone throw you a few pitches and give you a chance to swing the bat. If you believe that this is something you would like to try you should sign up for a beginners softball camp. If you can find a good one you will be able to come out of there with basic knowledge and it will be up to you to improve. Good luck

I'd recommend learning a little more about the sport before deciding to play it. You also may want to start watching baseball games on TV, or visiting a game with your local little league to get a jist of how the game is played.

I'm starting to get the feeling that people will ask these lame a$$ questions just for the stupid points and the people that really need help are not getting it because of these lame questions. Get Real!

You throw the ball, you catch the ball and you hit the ball.
If you have the ball and not know what to do with it, throw it to who-ever is hollering and waving a glove at you.
Do not stand between a base and someone running at you when you holding the ball, just step to one side and hit them in the head as hard as you can with the ball, but, do not drop the ball.
When you are batting someone will throw the ball to you and you hit the ball as hard as you can and try to hit the person in the head that threw the ball to you.
Softball is a head game. The more people you can hit in the head with the ball without dropping the ball, the more points you can get.
The only time you not hold the ball and hit someone in the head, is when you hit it with a big stick or someone hollering and waving a glove at you.
OR, Instead of listening to me, just ask your friends as you play what to do.
