x^2=5x+2
=>x^2-5x=2
=>(x)^2-2*x*5/2+(5/2)^2=2+25/4
[adding (5/2)^2 or 25/4 to both sides]
=(x-5/2)^2=33/4
=> x-5/2=+/- sqrt(33/4)=+/-sqrt33/2
x=5/2 +/-sqrt33/2
=(5+sqrt33)/2 and (5-sqrt33)/2

x² - 5x - 2 = 0
(x² - 5x + 25/4) - 25/4 - 2 = 0
(x - (5/2))² = 33 / 4
x - 5/2 = ±√(33/4)
x = 5/2 ± (1/2)√33
x = (1/2).(5 ± √33)

x²=5x+2
x² - 5x = 2
(x-5/2)² - (5/2)² = 2
x - 2.5 = "plus or minus" "square root" 8.25
x = 2.5 "plus or minus" "square root" 8.25
so, x = 5.37
or, x = -0.37

hope that helps!

x2-5x=2
(x-5/2)^2=2+25/4
x-5/2=(+-)root(33/4)
x=5/2(+,-)root(33/4)
