Since I live in Florida I would recommend what I know, have you ever visited St. Augustine? is a very nice old town with lots of activities for the family and for couples only, there are lost of restaurants, shops, and places to take a walk for free plus the city has very nice old houses if you feel like just taking a walk in the afternoon, also you can tour the city in a horse carriage or a trolley, you have lenty of museums(ripley madame tussaud), the lighthouse, an old spanish fort, the beaches, outlet mall, and so on, plenty to do. For coupons grab a copy of the Florida Guide at any fast food restaurant, they usually have discounts for hotels and attractions

You might want to try the NW Ga mountains. There are several little nice towns up there, Helen, Clayton, and Cleveland come right to mind. Should be way cooler than Macon, too.

There's always Atlanta. You could see a Braves game, visit Six Flags or Stone Mountain. See a show at the Fabulous Fox. Eat at the Blueridge Grill.

Have a great trip!
