Babies may begin drinking whole milk after their first birthday. They should only have whole milk until their 2nd birthday as the calorie and fat content is important for proper growth and development, especially for their brain. About 1 year is a good time to introduce a cup and cut back on bottles. It is helpful to mix formula and whole milk at first to give a baby's system a chance to get used to it. If your baby likes whole milk, just mix it 1/2 and 1/2 for a while. Than try 3/4 milk and 1/4 formula. If your daughter is younger than 1 year, skip the milk until she is 1. If she is between 1-2, only use whole milk. Save 2 % or low-fat milk for after her 2nd birthday.

Whole milk is what most infant/toddlers transition to from formula, because they need the extra fat content for brain development. Some infant/toddlers show a lactose intolerence at an early age and may need Lactaid milk, others may use soymilk. I recommend that you consult your pediatrician. If your child is getting constipated from the milk try mixing small amounts of natural laxatives in the milk like prune juice. Some parents also prefer to give infant/toddlers organic milk.

They say whole milk til 2 years old, then 2 % but if your child has a problem tollerating either I think your next choice is soy milk. I'm not sure about that but you may want to investigate it - and naturally consult with the pediatrician ! Good luck to you and your baby.

At purely a million, my daughter nonetheless can't do promptly cows milk. We used to place a pair of tablespoon in keeping with 8oz of formulation while the formulation replaced into too warm, yet that's quite no longer lots. She's nonetheless on formulation yet we've began getting the formulation for older toddlers and he or she's doing quite properly on it. we are hoping to alter over to cows milk at 2.

Sounds like shes not ready for milk yet.

How does she do with cheese and yogurt? As long as she gets plenty of those and plenty of water (plain water, no juice) she should be fine. Oh, and be sure its whole fat yogurt and cheese.

Rice milk is NOT a good substitute. It is fat free and really contains nothing the child needs.

since you've tried whole milk and thats what your supposed to start them on 1st and then 2% i would call the dr. i know some babies who actually use soy milk.... have you tried mixing the whole milk w/ formula?? thats what i have to do..and if you've already tried that then i would defiantly call the dr to see what your other options are.

Enfamil makes a formula for children 9-24 months. It's called Next Step. Don't know how old your child is but hope that helps.

Whole milk. If she's having troubles, then she might have a cow's milk allergy.
