Everyone seems to like him. I have nothing against him but I certainly don't think he's as great as some people say.
I think he's a good actor - when the material serves him, I also think that he is good looking (but I don't find him attractive myself), and I'm sure he's a nice guy.
But I don't get why everyone loves him so much. He hasn't really done a good film for a long time (when I say good I mean performance-wise not popularity-wise).
What do you think?

Ok. The Pirates films are not very good, and he is hardly stretching his acting abilities. Corpse Bride was a severe disappointment - as was Chocolate Factory (though Johnny Depp was quite entertaining it was not an amazing performance) Finding Neverland was midling, he did well with the accent (for once because he usually can't pull off accents).
The only decent roles he has had is Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Donnie Brasco which were all released almost a decade ago.
He has made some terrible films (From Hell, Sleepy Hollow, The Libertine).

I say, let the youngin's on here have their Orlando Bloom and leave Johnny to us "old timers", lol!
He is way hot and the only thing hotter than Johnny Depp? Oh that would be Johnny Depp in eyeliner!
In addition to the afore-mentioned hotness, I think he is a wonderful actor! As opposed to the well-known and popular Pirates trilogy, Johnny has an affinity for quirky roles (Fear & Loathing, Corpse Bride, Ed Wood, etc) that is the real draw for me.

Cos he's a stunner! and from a programme i watched on some biography channel a while ago he seems like quite an interesting guy, all be it a bit mixed up. He also seems to talk geniunly about his kids which is really sweet for a guy to show his soft side. Other than that i guess same reason they are interested in any celeb - looks and gossip (a lot of which probably aint true) but who will ever know. If it aint the actual person speaking about themselves then it probably aint true, thats why glossy mags and tabloid newspapers are a waste of time.

Johnny Depp is an actor with an extradornary range of talent. I love his slightly off center depictions. Jack Sparrow, Ichabod Crane, and Edward Sissorhand are just three that are popular but also deftly created. More "natural" roles like his officer role on 21 Jump Street, Gilbert Grape, and Ed Wood were not as "popular" but proof of his range. I think you have to like this type of character actor to appreciate Johnny Depp's abilities. I am glad I do.

He seems snobbish and anti-American with the comments he makes. Whatever suits him... I still like him as an actor, though, and I used to have a sweet crush on him after watching "What's eating Gilbert Grape" & "Edward Scissorhands" So quiet, sensitive and mysterious. He seemed sad and I thought I could make him happy. I've always been drawn to quiet types.

Well every one has a different taste and to me you have to be crazy not to be in love with him he is drop dead gorgeous.. What about sleepy hollow, corpse bride, pirates of the caribean.. he's on a roll! I think it doesn't matter what he is in he still looks good and he is an amazing actor it's the grunge look that makes him to die for.

Basically because he is one of the best and the most versatile actors out there at the moment, and hasn't sold out. He lives in France with his family, shunning the Hollywood life and does not always pick 'blockbusters', but smaller, arty films like Ed Wood, and Fear and Loathing to name but two.
Obviously women like him because he's not been hit with the ugly stick and men like him because he seems more approachable and down-to-earth compared to most stars.
He is the Brando of our generation.

I'm jealous that mostly every lady loves Johnny Depp. Then again, I have a crush on Nicole from the PussyCat Dolls.

Most people I know who love him are still obsessed with him from back in the 1980s. They just never got over it. I never cared for him. I hated 21 Jump Street.

He's a talented actor, he's really charismatic, seems to have attractive personality and definitely is attractive! He's just great. He has that something what makes other people like him.
