Or how about anyone on the Detroit teams of the late 80's? It's basketball at its best. Call it dirty, call it whatever you want. The Spurs play it well and so does Detroit, and that's why they will be in the finals.

To Original: Right on! NO ONE has ever said that about Stockton, except the players who got nailed by his bony hip. But he was GREAT! Bowen is similar in that you have to watch on slow motion to find out what he did to the player he's guarding. In fast motion it's just good defense. Back in the day they didn't get to use instant replay to nail a player three days AFTER a game. I also think Nash is good at that too. I've seen him stick a foot in the right place on more than one occasion.

I'm finally glad to see the officials crack down on the "hop step" which was called travelling back in the day. Now if they can just start calling palming for the "killer cross over"

To Divachic: Your answer is already the BEST, but yahoo won't let me rate it yet.
The "every team had an enforcer" tells me you know basketball. I'd ask you out on a date, but since I got married it has really put a cramp in my dating life

Spurs 4 games to Jazz 1 game

Spurs 4 games Detroit 3

It's only dirty play if you get caught! The "Bad Boys" of Detroit were the best at being "dirty". You had Rodman, Salley, Mahorn and Laimbeer, need I say more! These guys were hard-nosed ball players who were willing to do whatever the team needed in order to win. Can you say the same for the Phoenix Suns.......Hell No! Kurt Rambis on the other hand was an enforcer so the superstars like Magic, Kareem, and Worthy didn't have to get their hands dirty. Guys like that don't exist anymore with these super sized contracts and endorsement deals of today. Every team had one, going all the way back to the early days of hoops. Now you have these pseudo-superstars crying about fouls and being hit in the paint, especially Steve Nash. Next time, take your makeup off before you start crying baby girl!

the dirtiest player to ever play the game was lambeer ,he didnt care and he put his team first. Micheal jordan use to complain that the pistons were dirty and hated playing in detroit. They were a great team that got under ur skin and made loose focus. Rodman, mahorn, lambeer and others were great at that. The spurs are not dirty because u have to put ur tv in slow motion to see what they do , when its at full speed looks like its great defense and bowen has been complained about for years and still does it. They just know how to do it and if u cant see it its not dirty or a foul. Todays game is all about the money and back in the day u had a player like a rodman, mayhorn and rambus on every team but not today ,thats why ron artest isnt liked cuz he plays that kinda style and gets labeled a thug with an attitude problem

dirtiest player ever...John Stockton of the Utah Jazz. John Stockton was a great player but dirty. He took advantage of his cleancut image and got away with a lot of stuff. He used to set illegal screens on larger players and whenever he got knocked down they were called for defensive fouls. He would do it on the other end too. Players would screen him to free up their point guards he would run into the larger player and go sprawling to the floor. He would more than likely get the call on either side of the play. People remember how good of a flopper Bill laimbeer and dennis rodman they forget how much of a cheap shot artist john stockton was.

Has everybody forgotten Karl Malone already? He's the one who knocked David Robinson unconscious with an elbow to the head, remember? And he didn't seem to be able to go for the basket without aiming one of those huge knees at whoever was trying to defend him.

Robert Horry is well past his prime. The only way he can stay with the young guys is hard fouls. Nash had him beat on the breakaway so he hip-checked him out of bounds. That's what you do when you are desperate.

Get rid of him and the Spurs are a 'clean' team with plenty of talent. I hope Carlos Boozer throws Horry around the court in this series and gets away with it. Robert Horry has become a talent-less thug that the NBA and the Spurs would be better off without.

When teams lose, people dream up all kinds of excuses of opportunity. Don't pay any attention to them.
