I have sleep apnea. My wife just moves to the spare bedroom. The problem with that is, I am a morning man, so I have to go join her to take care of business. I usually sleep face down, since she says it stops my snoring. If I stay in the face down position, she stays in bed with me. That is much more fun! Please go see a sleep disorder specialist, they may recommend a CPAP machine, or some other means of opening your airway during sleep. Waking up alive surely beats waking up dead!

If your wife is angry now think how angry she will be if you died from a curable medical condition ?You really need to see a doctor and get checked out for sleep apnea. Sleep apnea can kill you .
Basically what is going on is that as you age and put on weight the tissues in the back of your face sag and rattle about and then resonate creating the distinctive snoring sound. The sagging also blocks your airway which prevents you from breathing -aka apnea- and you wake up many times a night gasping for breath although you may not remember it. The end result is that you find yourself tired from the lack of REM sleep.
If you do have apnea there are two solutions that work:
A CPAP machine-Constant Positive Airway Pressure.Basically it looks the the oxygen mask that military pilots use and what it does is force air under constant positive pressure in order to keep your airway open.
The surgical option which surgically removes all that loose hanging tissue and cleans up the airway passages.
I chose the surgical option because I just didn't want to sleep with a mask on.
Honestly it wasn't the most pleasant medical experience of my life But it wasn't as bad as say an orthopedic surgical procedure either.

Before you go spending money on any over the counter snore-relief miracle products, see your doctor. You need evaluated. There are many reasons for snoring and some of them are not too good, so an evaluation by a specialist would be your best bet. In the meantime, do not sleep on your back. Have your wife sew a balled up sock or tennis ball in the back of whatever you sleep in to discourage your rolling over in your sleep. Losing weight is also helpful. Even ten pounds can dramatically improve your breathing ability while sleeping. Go to the website I listed below and go to page four of the article. Snoring is a sign of obstruction in the airways. This may or may not be a problem, but often people have sleep apnea along with snoring, and that is a problem.
Try sleeping propped up in bed, or in a recliner. This difference in position affects the way gravity pulls on the uvula and nasal passages.

I don't care what your doc said, you have sleep apnea, go see a sleep disorder specialist and find out for sure, or you could continue to snore, which will eventually drive your wife from your bed and you may very well wake up DEAD one day!

Using a wider and bigger pillow and rest well do not make yourself too tired..
* Don't drink alcohol within three hours of bedtime.
* Avoid sedatives and antihistamines (especially at bedtime).
* If your are overweight, exercise.
* If you suffer from allergies, try to eliminate allergens in the bedroom such as removing a pet, regularly washing your sheets in hot water to remove dust mites, or removing any mold.
* Sleep on your side.
* Use a humidifier if your home is too dry.

lol well iam a wife that had a problem like that you need to get those nose strips they sell in any store they help but also we got a small air humidifer for our bed room and it helps so much i can finally sleep next to my husband and make sure you and a good pillow to keep your head propper will also help good luck to you and your wife!!
