when I reconnected the battery I could not start it again as I the imoboliser had kicked in how do I turn it off or is it faulty ?

try turning on the ignition for 15 minuets thain turn it off than re start or lock drivers door with the key and unlock it with the key or call the service dept for rolls

Sometimes the ECU in the car locks up after a power loss. Try to remove the connections from the ECU and leave it for about 30 Min's. Reconnect it and then try again if this does not work you unfortunately will need to take the car to a garage to have it re-set.

lock the drivers door with the key, then unlock it with the key, then start the car.
