there is alot of different types, some are trojans that recreat themselves until your computer gets too built up with memory lose, or there is the downloaders that...well, download stuff onto your computer, than there are the types that just erase everything on your hardrive and F your day up...
basically put, it is a bad program that either ruins or makes your computer slow.

A computer virus, is much like that of a human virus, it is just what the name dictates.
The Form of a virus is really just code. A program if you will, (almost) lines of code that when ran, preform operations that run in the background, and can harm, destroy, deleate, modify your system, and spread out to other machines, and use your machine as a spawning ground to infect other computers.
