There are several websites out there both paid and free that will help you not only with your itinerary but will point out some hidden things that so many people have no idea exist!
Some of my favorites include:
http://www.disboards.com
http://www.wdwinfo.com
http://www.tourguidemike.com
http://www.allears.net
Read up, choose what things you're most comfortable with and go from there. If you're planning on eating at any sit down dinners, please make reservations as well (1-407-WDW-DINE). You can find the menus on the Wdwinfo and Allears sites to more easily choose what restaurants you want to dine in.
Good luck and have fun!

Give it 4 days. A day or 2 is not enough. Though if your schedule is tight, just make sure you will be able to visit the 4 theme parks and ride all the rides, specially the Hollywood Tower of Terror. Just take one theme park at a time. Finish one theme park after the other. It will save you time and you will have four different fun-filled experiences. Just a tip, Magic Kingdom is more for Kids as well as Animal Kingdom. Epcot is a bit relaxing and an enriching experience for the mind. I had so much fun in the MGM studios (more for teens and adults). If you're a movie lover, you'll surely enjoy the backstage pass! On your first day, try to get show schedules so you can watch as many shows as possible. Once you have the show schedule, just look at the map and target to be able to ride everything. Just make sure you won't be late for any scheduled show (as you might be trapped in the long lines) Enjoy!

Been there several times. At all cost, stay right on a Disney property. Well worth the investment and the time involved. Get all available brochures before time, and look on the Disney site and they can show you a month or so in advance the times the different parks are open. Some parks are open longer than others certain days of the month. You can then plan your day around those times. You can see parade times, and set up your day around those.
To me depending on how long you are going for, it is better to spend an entire day at one park or two days, until you have seen everything you want to see there. Then you don't have to be going back and forth. It cost extra money to be able to do what Disney calls park-hopping.
A lot of options, depends on money you have to spend, time, etc. Definitely, go to AAA's or a travel agent and pick up your own brochures, etc. Disney will also mail you information if you contact them. I always plan my own trips, for my own specifications. You can rely on someone else, but I always feel they get a percentage somewhere along the line if they do it.

go to waltdisneyworld.com register and start "My Vacation" it helps plain an itinerary. When u get into the park they have a map and a time card that always helps. When my family goes to the Disney parks we usually head to the rides that have the shortest lines and work are way around. At Magic Kingdom I'd head straight threw the castle into Tommorowland i believe and come back around. This really doesn't go with the question but some great places to eat at the Magic Kingdom for great Burgers and fries Pecos Bill Cafe (right outside is a McDonald's Fry Cart) in Frontierland and right when u get into the park as ur heading down Main Street U.S.A there is a great place to get Hot dogs called Casey's Corner S. oh and at MGM there is some places to get a Minuet Main Lemonade Slushy that is great to cool off. and at Epcot there is a Coco-Cola Building that is another great place to cool off at and get free soda.

This is a hard one to answer because i do not know where you are staying. We went last year and stayed at Pop Century Disney Hotel. They ran free buses every 10 mins to all the disney parks. The two water parks were my favourites. The other parks are good but it was hard on the legs and it did not always pay to use the fast track pass as there are usually no other rides near that you want to go on and often its just too far to walk back. Have a super time.

Leave the magic kingdom til last. If you have to choose between MGM and Universal, pick Universal. Becoming aware of the fastpass system in Disney and how it works will benefit you massively. Remember that the locals come out to play at weekends and the parks will be more crowded then.

IThere are loads of holiday brokers. i would not choose upon which holiday agent to get from the internet, yet from a chum who can advise. A holiday agent who've a longtime background with somebody you recognize, will serve your desires plenty greater suited than an entire stranger

Buy a book. The one we bought is "brit's guide to orlando 2007" and we could'nt have done without it. alternitavley, check on the internet and somewhere you'll find a timetable showing busy & quiet days for each park.

there are some great books that answer this question. One in particular, was written by outsiders who had very good ideas and strategies for seeing as much as possible and avoiding the lines. Check out your local bookstore.
