Man I will be glad when I understand this stuff! I need to simplidy the expression 2x^7,y^16,X^13,Y^10, 2 Thanks

I think the answer is 4x^20, y^26 but I am not sure if it is that

Remember you can't combine 2 and 2x. They aren't like terms.

2x^20, y^26, 2

if the commas mean multiplication... then I would agree with above and say 4x^20,y^26

because you would first multiply the coefficients (which are 2, 1, 1, 1, and 2) which give you 4.

then for all the x values, you can add the exponent (b/c when you multiply exponents of the same term you can add them) -- so you add 7 and 13 to get 20... same for the y values, you add 16 and 10 to get 26.
