Have you ever accidentally broken a very expensive piece of equipment, while on the job? How likely are you to fess up and admit to the boss that it was your fault. What's the most expensive piece of equipment you've accidentally broken? Last year I broke one of our alarm screens (it was several thousand to fix). Of course, accidents happen-they're just better when they don't involve you! I had a buddy that wrecked a brand new patrol car (in a pursuit). I felt for him!

Forgot to mention...I did fess up but it was hard. Honesty is ALWAYS the best policy!

Got too. Too much at stake to worry about consequences. Got to get to sleep at night. Lying about something isn't worth it.

I work in a management office of 2 if something is broken it is easy to know who did it. I do fess up though because in time it is all figured out anyways. Honesty is the best policy. I'd Rather be known as Clumsy but honest ;)

Yes I have broken a machine at work and they can be very costly to fix. But it happens quite regulary and if I break anything anywhere, I would fess up and take responsibility. It's far worse if you don't!!

Of course. If politics teaches us anything, it's that the accident isn't what gets you into trouble. It's the cover up.

if i broke something major, i would have to tell. we have security cameras recording everything all over the building. so they would know anyway.

at my old job, i did break the glass coffee pot and didn't tell, i felt bad but thought i could get away with it. and i did.
