Does it seem as though it happened only a short time ago.
I was thinking about how Woodstock's 40th anniversary is two years away. I wasn't around but just thinking how the music never died.

Actually it feels like it was eons ago!I was there at 14 yrs old..
Times have changed so much since then it seems like it was another time in space!The music of that era will never die just as hippies at heart never will,....There can never be another one of such caliber,but I am honored that I was a part of it..=)

This is a really good question I wish this was a traditional forum so I could spend more time to write.. Youth culture developed into a highly marketable demographic over past 40 years. It got 'infiltrated' and dumbed down by the material world.. Todays youth are much more into material goods now.. As opposed to political idealism.. Also.. I think the draft and the impending doom it brought by hanging over young men's heads had alot to do with the success of Woodstock 69.. You had alot of youth fighting for an alternative..

Yeah, I was around, but was too young to travel across country to see it. My friends older brother went and said it was the most awesome experience ever. He talked about it for weeks afterwards, went from being a kind of tough guy to a summer of love type. He had a classic VW van and by the time he got to Woodstock (whoa deja vu!) it was loaded down with hippies from across the country hitching there. Forty years ago, damn I'm getting old!

I was around. Another Woodstock could never happen, things just came together randomly , and the same circumstances will never happen again. 100 years from now they`ll still be talking about Woodstock.

I was around....I had just graduated that year...but the mid 60's
were my special time..I wasn't into woodstock, truth be known.
For me, everything started going downhill after '66. =(
I just loved the BEATLES and the BRITISH INVASION of 1964
and '65....
I totally hated the drug influence, etc, in music....and society...
