Now that so much wealth is in the hands of a tiny elite who control the American media and control the political system. A large proportion of the people are in badly paid jobs with little or no security in their lives. Is it now time for the workers to take control of industry and the plitical system and to redistribute wealth. It is the workers who built the economy, it is the workers who should reap the benefits, not some overpaid corporate board members. It is time for the USA to become the Socialist States of America, power to the people

"No one who works for a living, deserves to live in POVERTY." There are Sixteen(16*)+ Million Americans working for POVERTY LEVEL WAGES because the U.S. Government and American Employers refuse to pay them a living wage instead of paying them a Minimum Wage that would raise them up and out of abject POVERTY. This is a Crime against Humanity. SLAVERY is alive and well in America because of Government and American Employers. "WORKERS of the world UNITE, You have nothing to lose but your CHAINS. An honest and fair and equitable WAGE is not much to expect from any Employer. You cannot enrich others without enriching yourself. If they sincerely want to improve the lives of People working for Poverty Level Wages, then they will have to pat above Poverty Level Wages. To refuse to do so is to keep these workers in perpetual POVERTY. How much longer are these workers going to be ENSLAVED by the Government and American Employers who continue to only pay POVERTY LEVEL WAGES? An honest days pay for an honest days work is long overdue by the Government and American Employers. The Value you place on your Employees is the Value you place on yourself. Pay them a fair and Equitable Wage. "No one who works for a living deserves to live in POVERTY."

Let's not get carried away. It may seem ideal to have socialist government. However, there are also downfalls for having a socialist government, look at former USSR. Even China is trying to open up its doors. When everybody has everything, nobody has anything.
Why not encourage people to pay more attention on the country's social, economic and political issues instead of being obsessed with "bling-bling", movie stars and those people who are just looking for sensationalism? That's the problem, especially with the younger generation now. They only care about being "famous" or "rich" by becoming a singer, movie star, rapper, model, etc. They don't see the importance of education or the importance of social, economic and political issues.

The US will never be a socialist country. It's just not in us. If people are going to whine about every single cent they lose through taxes and refuse to sacrifice part of their paycheck to feed, house and medicate their downtrodden fellow man than socialism... not gonna happen. I can see us taking on a few traits of socialism in the coming years but not enough to even begin to qualify as a socialist country. But uniting is good. E Pluribus Unum.

Try to redistribute my wealth and I'll sic the dogs on ya. If you want communism, go to China or Cuba. Just look at Venezuela to see what a socialist economy looks like.

Um - we tried that before and it was too successful! At one point the nation was stirred profoundly by the unionization movement. It was a time of immense social and political unrest. Many people were hurt and even killed, and many lost everything. But eventually, a significant number of laborers joined unions and forced substantial changes in working conditions and pay. Most of the changes they compelled were made into law, and younger, new laborers, not realizing how hard it had been to win these benefits, assumed they'd always be there for us and made the fatal mistake of thinking the other side - management - would not work hard and spend immense amounts of money to get those laws overturned or weakened to the point of meaninglessness.
I am afraid it will have to get much, much worse for American labor before we see a significant return to uinions in this country. And the struggle will be just as difficult as before. Lives will be lost, families destroyed. So my adivce to you is: prepare for a LONG struggle. And keep your head down until your union is strong enough to rise up together and force the needed changes.

Wow, I am impressed, a socialist finally came out and quit hiding behind the liberal democrat label.

I want you to know that the socialists in congress would like for you to start some violence in AMerica, they really would, it is part of the long term plan they have been following for over 60 years.

I also know a few Marines that would like for you to do it as well.

That's exactly what the powers that be want you to do. It's easier to control a stupid population that is dependent on each other for everything. Get educated, get involved in the government, and fight to keep your freedoms, or the government will get involved in every aspect of your life.

I thought that was what democracy was all about. One small problem, nobody is voting. How about exercising the power we already have instead of propping ourselves up beside the big screen and getting lost in the game?

To the person who said "so, you've been reading Marx this semester? I appreciate that you're reading actual books..."

I was with you until you said "Communism is a discredited ideology"... Whilst "communism" has been discredited in terms of cultural currency, it is likely that "communism" will once again become a popular concept given enough time. I very much doubt that capitalism (as we know it today) will continue indefinitely.

So, you've been reading Marx this semester? I appreciate that you're reading actual books, but try adding a few history books on the 20th century to your list. Communism is a discredited ideology. It's an utter failure.
