I have a E6600 @ 2.4Ghz, the motherboard is a P5N32-E SLI Plus and i have 1GB of OCZ Platinum PC-6400 C5 RAM. Can anyone tell me how to overclock this system Please.
And what is DDR2 TEMP as i get a warning in ASUS Probe saying that its 1.09V when i try overclocking.
Thanks

Well first I want to congratulate one of our leaders in this category danuitti for giving a completely pathetic answer. Dan, you don't seem to understand how one goes about overclocking these processors, so don't answer the question. Of course the FSB speed would increase, that is HOW you overclock these processors, by increasing the FSB speed. Seriously, that is a terribly uninformed answer.

Now as four your problem, the probe issues seems weird because 1.09V is a voltage reading not a temperature reading. 1.09V by the way is way way too low a voltage to run DDR2 on, so that would be a problem. Email me and I can ask you a few more specifics on your system and hopefully I can figure out what the issue is. I can also help you with the overclocking process.

Asus temperature probe, I would assume, is warning you that the temperature of your Ram modules is too high (possibly high enough to be of damage concern) Before you attempt any Overclocking, make sure your case is sufficiently cooled, and that the through-flow of air is unobstructed (or as clear as possible). Also consider using a second independent temperature monitoring software, to be sure that the CPU isn't melting.

The voltage it refers to is the amount of voltage being sent to the Ram modules. It may be that your cooling setup is not sufficient to remove the heat generated, and Asus probe is suggesting lowering the voltage, although most DDR2 Ram runs best at around 1.2V, if I remember correctly.

I think it's best to prod this around a dedicated forum, such as Custom PC's forum. You should find infinitely more knowledgable people than I there.

Here's the thing.. When you overclock that, your RAM and FSB speed does not change... That's the bottleneck. It seems pointless to overclock to overheat with these modern CPUs. It was cool when you took at Pentium classic 100MHZ and overclocked to 200MHZ... in those days, it was DOUBLE. But overclocking these new chips increase the speed by less than 5%, but reduce the life by 50%. Do the math, it is just a waste of time and money.

For more speed, get more RAM, get a faster video card.

Good luck and Happy Computing!
