I don't see a lot of support for " Freddo " anymore. Even Micth McConnal and Arlan Specter are saying he's going to go.

Duck: ( that seems to be what you are doing ), nice evasions there. Let's see: Hillary, racism and ...attacking Specter as a RINO ? That it ?
Again IF Gonzo did nothing wrong why is he so embattled? Where there is smoke...?

Wizjp: I don't think its personal. There is too much at stake here when the Atty General confuses his loyalty to his boss with his repsonsibility to the American people. Remember something called the Constitution?

I think Ragner has made an excellent point about how essential it is that an Attorney General be absolutly truthful under oath, or otherwise. This should supercede any partisan identity. - and towards the Queen: these are very seriousl charges that have yet to be addressed.,
Its about accountabilty

Well let's see

Alberto was working to remove 26 U.S. Attorneys for not acting as right wing weapons of the Bush administration......

.for not going after Democrats on trumped up charges and for not looking the other way when Republicans violated the Voting Rights Act Gonzo was trying to illegally dump them....totally illegal

Gonzo wrote up legal positions and personal notes to President Bush explaining how the U.S. could get away with torturing prisoners......he did the same in regards to arresting people without probable cause.....denying same people legal representation and the right to face their accuser(s)....ALL clear violations of the United States Constitution and Geneva Conventions

Gonzo wrote up the legal argument Bush fell back on to get away with spying on every American citizen illegally through the phone companies. The position was incorrect...supporting illegal, unconstitutional spying
........plain and simple it is illegal to spy on American citizens without probable cause. How could Bush have probable cause against every American ?

Gonzales has been nothing more than a political hack for the Bush administration. His character is so low that even some Republicans want him out.

The man should be tried as a traitor

but all we get is debates about whether or not he should be removed

Thanks "liberal" media

Gonzales has made a mockery of a cornerstone of our nation, " lady Justice". He has turned a Department that needed to remain independent into a political arm.
As White House Counsel
1) He issued the "torture memo" and basically saying that our enemies are not protected by the Geneva Conventions, yet when our people are captured in this same conflict THEY are protected
http://lawofwar.org/Torture_Memos_analysis.htm
2)Warrantless wire taps reissue fight which took his pathetic rear end to the bed side of a man in ICU to try and convince him to sign a document reauthorizing a program the "acting AG said was illegal". So much for the rule of law.
3) Gave minions, once he was moved to the Department of Justice, powers to hire and fire people who had more experience than they did
4) Lied to Congress not once but 4 times about the dismissed US attorneys- first he had nothing to do with it, then limited involvement etc. etc.

The stench is palpable from that Department and he accomplished something I never thought possible. HE made John Ashcroft look like an awesome AG

Like so many neocon questions, this one asks you to answer a question based on a so called "fact" which happens to be incorrect. Gonzales is the nation's highest officer in the judicial system. Our system seeks to provide justice through the careful review of "the facts of the case." While the underlying text of this drama is the discharge of Federal prosecutors for their failure to support the goals and agenda of the Republican party as seen with the vision of Karl Rove, the element that has outraged lifelong, traditional Republicans is his failure to be completely open, honest, and tell the whole truth, nothing but the truth.....under oath. How can a judicial system work when its highest officer mocks the very foundation upon which it rests. As another writer points out, the immoral activities such as badgering someone laying in a hospital bed to approve the destruction of freedoms Americans cherish, is just additional proof of his lack of fitness for the job. In fairness to Gonzales, however, the expectation of his superiors in the White House was loyalty to them and not the Constitution. Its hard to do your job with a clear mind when you accept it knowing that is part of the deal.

The Democrats hate Gonzales because he is opposed to their view of the Constitution and because he has shown a willingness to step on anyone with any backbone when it comes to resisting the Republican Agenda to quash dissent.

The Republicans hate Gonzales because his ludicrous inability to discharge his office is making the GOP look like a bunch of fools or worse, and at least some of them will be out of a job after the next election.

Although there are plenty to choose from in Gonzales's "career" (the Geneva Conventions being "quaint" comes to mind) the lowest of the low points had to be him sneaking into the hospital, late at night, to the bedside of Ashcroft all doped up and in serious medical condition, to try to get him to "sign off" on spying on American citizens without a warrant.

The man is vermin, he MUST go. He has made a mockery of the entire American judicial system.

You can dislike someone for a lot of reasons and you might not even think they are good at what they do; doesn't mean he did anything wrong.
