One problem. Ball valve is faulty. The ball valve is either clogged with limescale, or faulty.
Three possible solutions.
1) Get in the loft, and move the ball valve arm up and down vigorously (let the tap run beforehand so the tank isn't too full), this might get rid of any build-up of limescale, and cure the problem.
2) If not, try bending the copper arm of the ball valve downwards. This can cause the valve to shut off the water before it gets too high in the tank, and rectify your problem.
3) Otherwise the ball valve either needs a new washer, or replacing (both easy jobs if you have a basic understanding of plumbing)

Sounds like there is more water going into the tank than there is leaving it - turning on the cold water tap makes more water leave the tank than enter it.
If you leave the cold water tap on you might empty the tank!!
I think you will have to go in the loft to look at the tank, there should be a ball thing that floats in the water (Simular to your toilet cistern), if that mechaninsm is faulty then it wont stop water going into the tank. You can get the parts to replace it from a DIY shop or get a plumber to do it.

There is a fault with the ball valve in your tank and the water level is too high. Therefor the water is overflowing through the overflow pipe.It will stop temporarly if you run the Hot tap.

Befor you even go in the loft, get a new ball valve (DIY Store), arm yourself with a couple of shifting spanners, put the water off.
Replace the valve complete.

The stop **** (lol wont even let me rite it, cok)has stopped working which means the tank keeps filling up and whenever you turn on the tap it uses this water up. It can be fixed relatively easily.

You need the ball tap which controls the flow adjusting, it's not an expensive task.

You just need a new ballcock its cheap to buy and real easy to fit just need a spanner. You could try bending the rod on the ballcock might work temporarily.Or you could try a washer in the ballcock.
