I've decided that i want to name my kids all unusal but sofisticated names. What do you think of Carlyle, Raney (Rainy), Lola, and Lacie for girls? and for boys...Quentin, Quinn, or Silous?

Careful. Unless you're rich, your kid will get his/her *** kicked with a name like 'Carlyle' or 'Rainy'.

Sure, they will be sophisticated names when they get older, but in their childhood (which really shapes person's personality) they will hate you for naming them that.

If you want an original name, take a page from Seinfeld: "Seven" or "Soda".... Or do the celeb thing. Name them after the first inanimate object you see (i.e. 'Apple' or 'Tator').

Good luck with the unique name thing, but be careful too... It could back fire big time.

I hate Carlyle..Raney is contrived...Lola is done to death, Lacie is the best of the girls names, but I wouldn't consider any of them to be sophisticated.
Boys..Quentin is gross. Quinn is nice for a boy or a girl, and Silous sounds like an old farmer name. Ugh.

Carlyle is sophisticated. Nice!
Raney is not bad, but perhaps Rainee is a neater spelling. I like the sound of Raine, as in "rain". It's more sophisticated.
Lola is great! So is Lila, Liza, Lana, and Lora!
Lacie is really nice, but to keep it more sophisticated, I'd make the formal name Lace, and nickname could be Lacie.
Or perhaps spell it as Lacey. Somehow that looks less casual spelled that way!

Quentin is awesome! As is Quinn!
Silous - the spelling doesn't do it justice. How about Cylus or Silus? Or even Seamus or even Cyder? Cy, for short! Whoa, I like that one!

But good ideas, all in all! Good luck!

Lacie isn't unusual. Raney/Rainy isn't sophisticated. Carlyle sounds more boyish. Lola is actually nice.

Quentin isn't that unusual...then again, I'm in the south. Quinn I like better for a girl. Silous is just ugly.

It is hard finding sophisticated, unusual names. I wanted the same thing for my kids. I finally chose Skylar for my daughter and Logan for my son. As far as the names you have picked I love Raney and Lacie. I also like Quinn but I think I like it more for a girl. Quentin is nice. I think it is much harder finding good names for boys. Try the book The Ultimate Baby Names Book by Diane Stafford. It has tons of names and their origins and meanings but is also has like 100 lists of names like "playful names" or "outdoorsy names". Two things to keep in mind when naming your kids: Makes sure it sounds good now (when they are a kid) and when they are an adult. Also, if you have a middle name to pair with it they should flow together and be easy to say together. Good luck and have fun.

I have to agree with some posters, that while some of the names are unique, they aren't sophisticated. Lacie reminds me of a stripper that my goofy cousin dated. Lola reminds me of the Kinks song of the same name about a cross dresser.

Sophisticated girls' names that come to mind at Olivia, Isabella, Grace.

Quinn is okay, it's very Irish sounding. Quentin of course will get people thinking about Tarantino, and he's a bit of a freak. Silous is just very out there and teachers may have trouble and kids may make fun.

Well, good luck with the names.

Carlyle and Raney are unusual, but not sophisticated.
Lola, Lacie, Quentin and Quinn are not unusual, but are nice names.

The names you've chosen are unusual, but not especially sophicated- at least the girl names. Sophicated means classy, and Rainy, Lola, and Lacie are more casual - nice but casual. Silous is sort of "cold" but Quentin and Quinn are great.

Raney or Lacie for a girl
Quintin for a boy

Those names are not all that unusual btw. (Carlyle & Silous are)

If you are going for sophisticated, chose Carlyle, Quentin or Quinn. The other names don't sound sophisticated at all.
